The accessibility features on your Apple Watch and tips to enable them

Like other Apple’s products, the Apple Watch comes with suite of built-in accessibility features. Those features do make the Watch accessible and inclusive to people who are blind or have visual, hearing, or motor impairments. Today, we would like to show you all the accessibility features, plus how to enable and use them.

  1. Steps to enable VoiceOver on the Apple Watch

  1. Steps to enable grayscale

Step 1: Open the Apple Watch app from your iPhone Home screen.

Step 2: Tap on General > Accessibility.

Step 3: Lastly, simply toggle the switch next to Grayscale to ON.

To get back to full color, just repeat the same steps, and toggle the switch next to Grayscale to OFF.

  1. Steps to turn on bold text

Step 1: Open the Apple Watch app from your iPhone Home screen.

Step 2: Tap on General > Accessibility.

Step 3: Toggle the switch next to Bold Text to ON.

Step 4: Tap on Continue to reboot your Apple Watch and apply changes.

To get back to regular text weighting, repeat the same steps, but toggle the switch next to Bold Text to OFF.

  1. Steps to reduce transparency using the Apple Watch app for iPhone

Step 1: Open the Apple Watch app from your iPhone Home screen.

Step 2: Tap on General > Accessibility.

Step 3: Tap on Reduce Transparency.

Step 4: Now, flick the Reduce Transparency ON.

To re-enable, repeat the same steps, but flick the Reduce Transparency to OFF.

Steps to enable On/Off Labels on the Apple Watch

Step 1: Open the Settings app from your Apple Watch screen.

Step 2: Tap on General > Accessibility.

Step 3: Flick the On/Off Labels ON.

To disable On/Off Labels, repeat the same steps, but flick the On/Off Labels OFF.

Steps to enable On/Off Labels using the Apple Watch app for iPhone

Step 1: Open the Apple Watch app from your iPhone Home screen.

Step 2: Tap on General > Accessibility.

Step 3: Flick the On/Off Labels ON.

To disable On/Off Labels, repeat the same steps, but flick the On/Off Labels OFF.

  1. Steps to turn on mono audio on your Apple Watch

Step 1: Open the Apple Watch app from your iPhone Home screen.

Step 2: Tap on the My Watch tab.

Step 3: Tap on General > Accessibility.

Step 4: Flick the Mono Audio ON. You can now adjust the volume level between the left and right channels.

Step 1: Open the Apple Watch app from your iPhone Home screen.

Step 2: Tap on the My Watch tab.

Step 3: Tap on General > Accessibility.

Step 4: Tap on Accessibility Shortcut.

Step 5: Now, just tap to use VoiceOver or Zoom as the shortcut.
