Download and install tvOS 10.1 Beta 1 to your Apple TV

How to install the tvOS 10 beta over-the-air

Before getting started, you are required to use a USB-C cable to initially pair your Apple TV with your Mac in order to install the tvOS configuration profile.

Step 1: Head to developer.apple.com/download from your Mac.

Step 2: You are prompted to punch in your developer username and password so that you can log in.

Step 3: Next, click on the blue Download button which is to the right of tvOS 10 beta configuration profile.

Step 4: Head to the Mac App Store to install the Apple Configurator app.

Step 5: Pair your 4th gen Apple TV with AC power. And at the same time, use a USB-C cable to pair your 4th gen Apple TV with your Mac.

Step 6: On your Mac, open Apple Configurator, and then click on Add Profiles to your Apple TV.

Step 7: You are now asked to add the tvOS 10 beta configuration profile you just downloaded earlier. You can also drag and drop the file to the Apple TV icon.

Step 8: After the successful installation of the configuration profile, restart your Apple TV.

Step 9: On your Apple TV, choose Settings > System > Software Update.

Once the TV detects tvOS 10, it will automatically download and install it.

How to install the tvOS 10 beta over USB-C

Step 1: Head to developer.apple.com/download from your Mac.

Step 2: You are prompted to punch in your developer username and password so that you can log in.

Step 3: Now, you will need to select the blue Download button to the right of tvOS 10 restore image.

Step 4: Next up, you will need to select the blue Download button to the right of Xcode 8, and then install it on your Mac.

Step 5: Pair your 4th gen Apple TV with AC power. And at the same time, use a USB-C cable to pair your 4th gen Apple TV with your Mac.

Step 6: Open iTunes and click on Apple TV when it shows up in iTunes.

Step 7: You need to press and hold the Option key and select Check for Updates.

Step 8: Select the tvOS 10 beta you just downloaded.
