In addition to removing the headphone jack, Apple has ditched the physical home button, one of the most recognizable elements of an iPhone, from the latest iPhone 7/7 Plus, replacing it with a new generation Taptic Engine.
This new button now gives feedback according to the task you are carrying out and how you press down the button. So, that’s why the way you set your iPhone 7/7 Plus into DFU mode is different from its predecessor. And in this post, we will be presenting to you how to enter DFU mode on the new lineup of iPhone.
Step 1: Ensure iTunes in running on the latest version.
Step 2: Use a lightning USB cable to pair your iPhone 7/7 Plus with your computer.
Step 3: You are now prompted to power off your iPhone.
Step 4: Now, press and hold down the Lock button on the right side of your iPhone for 3 seconds.
Step 5: Press and hold down the volume button on the left side of your iPhone while still holding the Lock button.
Step 6: Continue holding both buttons down for exactly 10 seconds. Note that if the Apple icon shows up on your screen, you have held them too long and need to start again.
Step 7: Release the Lock button but continue holding down the volume down button for around 5 seconds. If you see the Plug into iTunes screen, you have held it too long and need to start again.
Step 7: If the screen turns black, it means you have put your iPhone 7/7 Plus into DFU mode successfully. iTunes should now pop up with a message saying that it has detected your iPhone 7/7 Plus and will allow it to be restored.
You may find it a bit complex when applying this new method on the new iPhone models, but you should get used to it.
