Steps to mute abusive words or phrases in Twitter on iPhone

Step 1: Open the Twitter app on your iPhone.

Step 2: Choose the Notifications tab at the bottom

Step 3: Tap the cog icon in the upper left corner of the screen.

Step 4: Tap Muted Words.

Step 5: You are now asked to enter the abusive word or phrase.

Step 6: Once you are finished, tap Done in the upper right corner to confirm. You should see the red button beside the newly added abusive word.

Steps to unmute the abusive words or phrases in Twitter

In case you have mistakenly added any word as abusive, you can unmute it by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Open the Twitter app on your iPhone.

Step 2: Choose the Notifications tab at the bottom

Step 3: Tap the cog icon in the upper left corner of the screen.

Step 4: Tap Muted Words.

Step 5: Tap on the red button beside the abusive word you wish to unmute. Tap Yes when the pop-up window appears.

Steps to report any tweet as abusive in Twitter

Step 1: Open the Twitter app on your iPhone, and then go to the tweet that you want report as abusive.

Step 2: Tap the downward arrow next to the tweet to reveal a menu with options. Just tap Report Tweet.

Step 4: You are now presented with 3 options, including:

  • I’m not interested in this Tweet
  • It’s spam
  • It’s abusive or harmful

You need to tap It’s abusive or harmful

Step 5: Now, you need to choose the reason why this tweet is abusive or harmful.

Step 6: On the next screen, you will have the option to Block and Mute the person whose tweet you want to report as abusive.

Step 7: Lastly, tap Done in the upper right corner of the screen to confirm.
