Tips to change the default transportation Mode in iPhone Maps

By default, Maps on your iPhone assumes you want driving directions. But if you use public transportation or walk quite often, you should change your default transportation for Maps. Thankfully, Apple gives you the ability to change your default transportation mode for Maps with ease by simply heading to the Settings app on your iPhone. Steps to change your default transportation Mode in Maps

Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.

Step 2: Navigate to Maps.

Step 3: You should see the Preferred Transportation Type section with 3 options under it: Driving, Walking, or Transit. Just tap on the option you want.

From now on, when you use Maps to get directions, you will automatically see the directions and estimated travel time for your preferred transportation mode.

Steps to enable and disable the compass in Maps

If you wish to see the compass while in navigation mode, just do the following:

Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.

Step 2: Navigate to Maps > Driving & Navigation.

Step 3: Flip the switch for Compass to the ON position.

If you want to change the default unit of distance, just follow these steps:

Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.

Step 2: Navigate to Maps.

Step 3: Tap on the unit of distance you wish to use. You have two options: Miles and Kilometres.

Steps to turn on email follow up issue reporting for Maps

If you have been reporting issues with Maps to Apple but you are not sure that they have looked into the issue, you can always enable the option to get a follow-up email to see how the issue is being fixed.

Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.

Step 2: Navigate to Maps.

Step 3: Flip the switch for Follow up by Email to the ON position.
