D-Link just announced that its new Omna 180 Cam HD Camera, announced at CES 2017, is now available from the Apple’s online Store for $199.95. It will be sold in Apple stores around the world by the end of the month.
The D-Link Omna 180 Cam HD serves as an indoor camera that features a wide angle 1080p camera with a unique 180-degree field of view, infrared night vision up to 16 feet, a built-in microphone and speaker for two-way audio, and an SD card slot for local recording. All are enclosed in a sleek cylindrical body.
Similar to the Nest Camera, the Omna 180 Cam HD will notify you whenever motion is detected, but you are able to view Omna’s live feed from your lock screen thanks to HomeKit integration. The camera integrates with the latest HomeKit features in iOS 10 showing a live video feed from the Home app. So, it can be setup and controlled via the Home app, however, in order to use some advanced features, you will need to download D-Link’s free Omna app. With 180-degree vision, the Omna 180 Cam is able to sit discreetly in a corner while seeing and recording the entire room. It can record a video clip if there is movement in your house.
The cool thing is that the D-Link camera has the ability to trigger Scenes with other connected HomeKit accessories using automation. Not stopping there, the Omna 180 Cam features IR LEDs for viewing in low-light conditions. By using IR LEDs, it is capable of recording in night vision mode up to 5m distances.
