Most people will use iPhone to FaceTime but you can completely do it on your Mac. And QuickTime’s screen recording feature is the best choice for you to make the video call easier. To do this:

  1. Open QuickTime from the launcher or from Applications.
  1. Click File and new screen recording in the Menu bar.
  2. Select the small down arrow next to the record button in the QuickTime window and then select Internal Microphone from the list of available microphones.
  3. Open FaceTime to set up your call.
  4. Select QuickTime to record your whole screen or drag and drop to record just a portion of it.
  5. Click stop recording icon.
  6. Select File within QuickTime in the menu bar.
  7. Name your recording and select where you want it saved.
  8. Finally, select Save.

While QuickTime is pretty good at recording your screen, there are other apps that can do better such as ScreenFlow, Snagit, and Camtasia. Although they aren’t free, they still offer more features than QuickTime so if you’re doing this regularly and want some editing features too, they may be worth checking out.
