Here’s how you can create a new contact from the Home Screen using 3D Touch

3D Touch is undoubtedly the most exciting new feature in the iPhone 6s/6s Plus. It is also used in the iPhone 7/7 Plus. The pressure-sensitive screen tech actually opens up a world of new features.

If you are using an iPhone with 3D Touch support, you can use Quick Actions to create new contact from home screen. Quick Actions can be accessed by pressing firmly on an app icon. In this tutorial, we will show you how to create a new contact from the home screen using 3D Touch, plus how to choose contacts for Phone’s 3D Touch shortcut menu. Let’s take a look.

Steps to create a new contact with 3D Touch

Step 1: First off, you will need to 3D Touch the Phone icon from the Home screen.

Step 2: With iOS 10, you should see your favorite contacts at the top, and the options below: View Most Recent Call, Search for Contact, Create New Contact, and View Most Recent Voicemail. Just tap Create New Contact.

Step 3: You are now prompted to type in the information for the new contact.

Step 4: Once you are finished, tap Done.

Steps to choose contacts for Phone’s 3D Touch shortcut menu

Step 1: First and foremost, you need to open the Phone app on your iPhone.

Step 2: Tap Favorites to bring up a list of your favorite contacts. In case the list is empty, you will have to add a contact to Phone’s Favorites list. To do this, you just need to tap the plus icon in the top right, and then pick a contact from your address book.

Step 3: If you want to reorder your Favorites list, tap Edit in the top left corner. A drag handle will then show up on the right side of each contact.

Step 4: You are asked to tap and hold the drag handle of a contact.

Step 5: Move your finger up or down to reorder the item in the list, and then release the finger.

Step 6: Repeat the above steps for other Favorites items.

It’s worth noting that only the first three contacts at the top of Favorites show up in Phone’s 3D Touch shortcut menu.

Step 7: Once you are all done, tap Done in the top left corner of the Phone app.
