Rumor: iPhone 8 with 5-inch display will have glass back and wireless charging

Well, there have been an abundance of rumors about Apple’s revolutionary new iPhone 8, but still there isn’t any official word on the device. According to the latest rumor, the iPhone 8 with 5-inch display will ship with a glass back and wireless charging.

To specify, based on reliable sources from Taiwan, Japanese blog Macotacara reveals that only the 5-inch model will feature a glass back coupled with inductive charging capabilities, while another source previously claimed that all the three iPhone 8 variants will be able to charged wirelessly.

According to the sources from Taiwan, the wireless charger won’t be included in the product package, which means customers will have to buy the charger as a separate accessory.

Apple is also said to ditch the Lightning-to-3.5mm adapter, so you will not able to use the traditional headphones. You are better off buying an earphone compatible with lightning port.

Plus, the iPhone 8 is rumored to come with a new 3D sensor that is aimed at working with flexible OLED display.

Not stopping there, the upcoming device is said to cost more than $1000, which makes it the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever made in the history. The OLED display, metal glass chassis for the phone’s body, 3D sensor, and wireless charging are said to lead to the price increase.

According to KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo, the 4.7-inch variant will sport a single camera, while the 5.5-inch and OLED variants are expected to feature dual-lens camera. Additionally, the flagship may include an IP68 water resistance rating capable of withstanding 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes while offering full dust protection and water protection.

The iPhone 8 is said to launch in the fall of 2017.
